The series · Uncharted Frontier

A gathering with a moving center.

Uncharted Frontier is a traveling, twice-yearly residential gathering for people already close to consequential questions in AI. We convene thirty-two people in one place long enough for the conversation to change shape.

Why a series

The place changes. The ambition stays.

Each chapter is shaped by a distinct location, season, and group of contributors. The series gives ideas time to travel: insights from one gathering become questions for the next, and a network grows by returning to the conversation from new terrain.

We are building an ongoing institution rather than a single, self-contained event—one that can hold changing technical realities, real disagreement, and many ways of knowing what AI is becoming.

The chapters

The first frontier is only the beginning.

Future chapters

New places, continuing inquiry.

A new chapter will arrive twice each year. Locations and themes will be announced as the series finds its next necessary setting.

The room

Four vantage points. One shared inquiry.

Each chapter brings together thirty-two residents: eight from each of four home cohorts. The cohorts offer a durable point of reference, while meals, workshops, housing, and editorial work intentionally cross those boundaries.

01

Engineering leaders

People building the systems, infrastructure, and deployment practices on which AI depends.

02

Product leaders

People deciding how AI enters products, organizations, institutions, and everyday life.

03

Researchers

People advancing the science of intelligence, capability, evaluation, safety, and understanding.

04

Artists

People testing how AI changes creative practice, authorship, culture, and the stories we tell.

Admission

Selected for what they bring to the room.

Admission is intentionally selective. Residents join through a rigorous application or, in a small number of cases, special invitation. Neither route changes the expectation to participate deeply and make the gathering more useful for everyone else.

01

A consequential perspective

Residents are selected for the specificity of their work, their point of view, and the questions they can make a room see differently.

02

A willingness to contribute

Every applicant arrives prepared to teach, listen closely, and help shape the collective work—not simply consume a program.

03

A balanced room

The final cohort is composed deliberately across disciplines, lived experience, institutional vantage points, and relationships to AI.

A resident-led institution

Each applicant proposes six sessions they could lead. Two are selected for every admitted resident, so the program is made with the people in the room—not simply delivered to them.
